Evite has a variety of invites that you can choose from for Cinco de Mayo.

Decorate with lots of wonderful colors, and include fun items like sombreros, Mexican blankets and pinatas.

This Cinco de Mayo Table Topper would add great color to your table.  You can make it easily with dry beans.

Hostess Jo has fiesta items like this one on sale right now!

Entertain Exchange has a tutorial on how to make these easy and fun centerpieces.

If you are having a large party, don’t foget to hire a Mariachi band to really get your guests in the mood.

Pinatas are a Mexican tradition so this is always great to have for the kids or the adults.  Martha Stewart has instructions on how to make your own pinata.

Of course, for food their are so many great recipes to serve.  Have a buffet and serve fajitas with beans, guacamole and queso to go with it.  Don’t forget the margaritas!!

Butterfly Party

I am planning my twin girls 2nd birthday right now and  I will share all my ideas for their party soon. For now, I wanted to share what I did for them last year.  We celebrated their 1st birthday with a butterfly theme.  Their room is decorated in butterfly’s so I thought this would be perfect for their party especially since it was in the spring.

The table is set with a cookie bouquet, the cakes and books for the guests to write birthday wishes to each of the girls.

Here is a closer look at the cookie bouquet.  It has butterfly garden ornaments that are in the back with cookies cut out like butterflies, flowers and ladybugs.  Next to the cookie bouquet are the girls baby books so everyone could see all that has happened in their first year of their life.

The cake is make with hand made flowers and edible butterflies.

This is a fruit display with pineapples cut out like butterflies.  I also served cheese and crackers in the shapes of butterflies and flowers.

When the kids arrived, I had activities ready for them like decorating foam butterflies.

We always have a pinata at our parties and the kids love when it is time for the pinata.

This isn’t a great picture but for party favors I bought butterfly nets and filled them with candy and spring toys for the kids.

Unfortunately, both of the birthday girls were sick during the party with ear infections but I think everyone else still enjoyed the party!

Get ready for April Fool’s Day

April Fool’s Day is Wednesday and I am trying to remind myself that it will be here soon because my brother always seems to get me with some type of practical joke.  If you are a prankster and this is one of your favorite holidays then here are some ideas to help you plan your fun for the day.

Start with food that will surprise everyone.  Your family or friends might think they are getting a sweet chocolate cupcake but it is actually a Meatloaf Cupcake with mashed potatoes

This Hot Dog recipe will have everyone wondering what the odd ingredient is???

For dessert, serve Baked Potato Ice Cream Sundaes.

Kids will really be confused when they are served these Faux Fish Sticks.

Martha Stewart also has some other great ideas for some practical jokes.

For those of you who love to play pranks to the unsuspecting friends and family, have fun and try to have a little compassion for those of us who can be gullible.

Outdoor Celebrations

I have spring fever right now and I can’t get enough of the beautiful weather today.  I just want to be outside which leads me to my post for today which is outdoor celebrations.  I came across these ideas from Country Living to take the party outside.

This is a great spring tablescape using bales of hay for seating.

Sunflowers just make me happy and these sunflower cupcakes would be a tasty spring treat.

A simple tablecloth with vibrant flowers dress this picnic table up with little effort.

No matter what your theme is, take the party outside and enjoy some beautiful weather.

Pajama Party

Lisa emailed me asking for help with her daughter’s first sleep over.  Her daughter is 6 and she wanted to make sure that all the girls had a great time.  This is a milestone for both the parents and the child as they spend their first night away from the parents to stay with friends.

If you are sending out invitations, Tiny Prints has a great Sleepover Invitation.

Kids love to have fun foods at sleepovers like pizza, popcorn, chips and sweets.  Make sure that your guests don’t have any food allergies.  Family Fun has some ideas for a great slumber party including a  Sleepover Cake that would make a great dessert.

Girls love to play dress up so set up an area for the girls to experiment with make up and crazy hair styles.  Another idea is to buy white pillow cases and let everyone decorate their own pillowcase with fabric paint.  Everyone will get to take a memento home from the sleepover.

Get a movie that is suitable for everyone and let them watch the movie surrounded by pillows and blankets.

When they FINALLY get up in the morning, treat them to donuts or pancakes. also has some great ideas for a pajama party.

Be sure to take pictures and try to get a little rest while the kids have an exciting first sleepover.

It has come down to the Final Rose for The Batchelor.  I am a hopeless romantic and hope that he finds true love (even if this is a reality show). Invite your girlfriends over to see what the outcome will be.  Use red as the main color for decorations and make sure that you incorporate roses.

Social Couture has some great designs and items for sale for a Red Dinner Party.

Use this Rose Ball Candle Set from Wrapables to set the mood at the party. They also have a beautiful Red Rose-Tini Martini Glass that would fit well with the theme.

It’s time to plan a Mardi Gras Party.  This year Mardi Gras is Tuesday, February 24th.  Start off with festive invitations from Paper Style.

Host an Oscar Party

If you love the glamour and excitement of the Oscars, try hosting your own Oscar Party.  The 81st Acadamy Awards presentation will be held Sunday, February 22nd.

This Film Canister Invitation is a great way to invite your guests to a night of Hollywood fun.

Turn your party into a red carpet affair and ask your guests to dress in their best attire.  Don’t forget to lay out the red carpet for their grand entrance and photograph your guests as they arrive.  Use the pictures as party gifts for a night to remember. Provide each guest with a ballot to pick their winners.  At the end of the night, determine who picked the most winners correctly and give them a special prize or award them with their own Oscar oscar-divagirl

Decorate with glitz and glamour by using color schemes with black, silver and red.  silvertinsle-plumparty
